Moreshwar Temple, Morgaon
The first and most sacred stop. The swayambhu murti of Mayureshwar on his peacock mount is enshrined here; pilgrims touch this temple at the start and again at the close of the yatra.

Siddhivinayak Temple, Siddhatek

The only Ashtavinayak murti with the trunk turned to the right — making the shrine siddhipeeth, seat of accomplishment. Vishnu is said to have meditated here before slaying Madhu-Kaitabha.

Ballaleshwar Temple, Pali

Named for the boy devotee Ballal whose unbroken prayer called Ganapati down into a stone. Only Ashtavinayak murti named after a bhakt.

Varadavinayak Temple, Mahad

Varadavinayak — the bestower of boons. A nandadeepa (ever-burning lamp) has been lit continuously since 1892.

Chintamani Temple, Theur

Chintamani — the remover of worries. The wish-fulfilling gem that Guna returned to Ganapati is said to remain here. Madhavrao Peshwa rebuilt the shrine in the 18th century.

Girijatmaj Temple, Lenyadri

The only Ashtavinayak carved inside a cave — 307 steps up in the Lenyadri hills. Parvati (Girija) is said to have done penance here before Ganapati was born.

Vighnahar Temple, Ozar

Vighnahar — the remover of obstacles. The shikhara is gold-plated, rising above the Kukadi river. Considered the most ornate of the eight shrines.

Mahaganapati Temple, Ranjangaon

Mahaganapati — most powerful of the Ashtavinayak. Shiva is said to have worshipped Ganapati here before his battle with Tripurasura.
